Hello I go by Jim,I am a 52 years old and work as an Central office Generator tech for a large Telco all over SW Texas. I have also worked as an EMT & Paramedic for 10 years in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area for Rural/Metro and AMR.I still Hold an active cert as an EMT-B
I have held two other calls in my 32 years of being a amateur. My Novice call was KB5LUB and 28 days later when I upgraded to tech in February of 1990 I was issued N5QHO. I kept this call for 10 years until I upgraded to amateur extra and took a vanity call of WM5L. (I always wanted a 2×1)
I run a Icom IC-746Pro, IC 756Pro II and IC 7300, Alpha 99 with a Tennadyne T-8 Log Periodioc and Inverted Vs for the lower bands. For the VHF/UHF bands a Yaesu FT-847 and a russian built KW pallet amp for 2m. When Portable/Camping I run a Elecraft KX3. I run most of the WSJT-X modes on 6 & 2m I also run a APRS tracker with the call WM5L-1,2,3 or 4 depending what Truck,or Harley I am in/on. I own and maintain 10 APRS Digis and Igates in West and Central Texas under the club call N5QHO-1 Through N5QHO-10
I Like QSL cards. I QSL 100% if i receive one direct, via the W5 QSL “BURO”. I also use LOTW,Club log and eQSL.
