Newly licensed Technician class in May 2022 as KD9VDX. Awarded General and Extra in January 2023, and then switched call to AF9LL.

Currently operating:

HF on an Icom 765 running to an OCFD.

VHF/UHF on a 5W Yaesu FT-70DR, occasionally with a “Long Ranger,” an MFJ-1729 magmount antenna, or an Arrow handheld yagi. Also operate a Baofeng GT-5R handheld with a Nagoya 771 antenna.

Operating Interests:

Have recently been listening to ISS and satellites and posting signal reports on AMSAT. No luck making contact yet.

Interested in CW and currently operating on 40m and 20m. Can receive at about 13-15 wpm. Working on sending and getting better. I use a CW Morse camel back straight key. Also interested in APRS, SSTV, FT8, .PSK31, Olivia and other digital modes.
